This year, the focus was on the Gold Rush era. The kids learned to pan for gold, built a gem sifter, threw the tomahawk, shot a bow and arrow, and heard the story of the Sons of the American Revolution. Joshua was the second in command for,the student leaders, and h handed out reward certificates at the end of camp. He also won most gentleman like (for the 3rd year) and the Mr. Ed challenge award for his age group. Caleb won the musket shooting contest for his age, and Luke was voted most likely to start a wildfire. It is always a fun time camping away from the demands of modern life, even if history camp does demand a visit to the outhouse and a run in with poison ivy.
