Geocaching through Georgia

We took a drive to a local state park today to pursue a geocache. The Georgia State Parks are promoting geocaching as part of their 'get out, get dirty, get fit' campaign. They have placed geocaches at 42 of Georgia's state parks. You get awards for different numbers of caches found, starting at 15. We have found 4 so far, but there are about 7 more just in 30 minutes drive of us, so we are hoping to be able to get at least to the bronze level award. It has gotten us out to see new state parks, meet some new friends, and run into some old ones. We met a friend I graduated with who is a Park Ranger in Reidsville (Penny), and today we met Tyler and Suzanne from college, their son and daughter and her parents.
Read more about the state parks geo-challenge. Or to find geocaches anywhere go here. The kids especially love getting out in the woods and exchanging some small toy for another in the box.

Debbie,
We're about to go on our first geo-caching adventure when Carina wakes from her nap - I'll let you know how successful we were when we get back. We're starting small, but I think it may be something we enjoy all summer - thanks for the idea!
