Since I couldn't get a room at Bonnet Creek for Sunday night, I had a travel agent book a room that would fit our entire family for that night. We stayed at the penthouse suite at Hawthorn Suites. It included breakfast and, surprisingly, tickets to Gatorland for our entire family! Matt only had conference for a half day on Thursday, so the plan was for us all to go to Gatorland that afternoon. Joshua got sick with a stomach bug and didn't feel like going. Matt decided to stay with him and keep Rachel with him. It was a fun afternoon for us. Gatorland took us 2 hours, but I could see how it could be stretched to 3-4 hours. However, if it was a warm day, the kids could play in the sprinkler park and that would take more time. The shows were corny (the whole park is redneck themed), but the kids learned several things about alligators and crocodiles. In addition to paying admission, there are several activities which require additional cost. Riding the train was $2 per person, turkey dogs were available for purchase for the alligators and seed sticks for the birds, pictures with a snake and alligator or a picture of a brave person sitting on the back of an alligator were also available for purchase. Overall, it was a fun time for a few hours, for free!
